Highlights from ReConnecting Faith & Community Conference
This past Tuesday, rural faith leaders gathered for our third and final day of the ReConnecting Faith & Community Conference. Since May 11, clergy and congregation members from over 60 counties joined each other to tell stories around the concepts of “Recovery, Rekindle, and Resilience.”
As one of the final events in IEI’s ReConnect NC series, we’re so grateful for faith leaders joining us in May and also for the last three years. Whether you were there every day or curious about what we learned about, check out what we learned!
After a year of being at home, we wanted to celebrate home for so many of our faith leaders. Every week, faith leaders shared pieces of rural life they love; below is their gift to us all.
- Rev. Jason Villegas shared his spoken word piece “Recovery in the Rural Church”
- Rev. Eric Reece talked about working with Partners for Sacred Places to restore the oldest church in Graham County, The Old Mother Church.
- Rev. Ed Priestaf read his poem “Aint nothing gonna grow here“ about stories (true and not) we tell ourselves about rural life, people, ministry, and community.
If you attended any sessions of the ReConnecting Our Faith & Community Conference, please fill out our “Community Wonderings Form” so we can connect with you further.
