The Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) is excited to welcome NC State University undergraduate student Nathan Yilma as its new finance and operations intern. Throughout the 2024-2025 academic year, Nathan will support the Finance and Operations team with event planning and management, report preparation, trend analysis to streamline operational processes and post-event evaluations among various administrative tasks.

Q: What are your goals after you graduate?
A: To work as an investment banker.
Q: What interests you most about working with IEI? What made you interested in the F&O internship?
A: The variety of tasks I am assigned. I dislike inertia, and working on different types of projects to help uplift the community is an amazing goal and I want to contribute my part.
Q: What do you hope to get out of this experience?
A: I want to learn how to integrate myself within a team and move as one to reach a common goal in a professional setting.
Q: What do you believe is the biggest emerging issue facing our state?
A: I believe affordable housing is going to be a large emerging issue in North Carolina in the next couple of years. With an increase in tech companies gaining interest in integrating to NC, there will most likely be a housing shortage.
