ReCONNECT to Technological Opportunity: Story Slam
ReCONNECT to Technological Opportunity
Broadband Story Slam
Deadline to apply: January 17, 2020 11:55 p.m. EST
High-speed broadband is critical to nearly every aspect of day-to-day life. Without Internet access, people can’t apply for jobs, finish their homework, telecommute, send vitals to their doctor, start a business, or otherwise access the nearly limitless promise Internet connectivity provides.
We’re looking for brief but compelling true stories about how the Internet—or lack of access to the Internet—has affected people in North Carolina in each of these areas: education, agriculture, health, and small business.
Has access to high-speed internet changed your life, education, livelihood or business? Do you have a story that everyone needs to hear? Can you tell it in a really compelling way in front of a crowd? Apply today to tell your story to a statewide audience at the next Emerging Issues Forum on February 10.
Your story should be:
- Brief (no longer than 5 minutes)
- Compelling and True
- Centered around how the Internet has affected you in one of these four areas:
- Small business
- Solutions focused: Outline the problem but focus on how you’ve been able to leverage the internet (or plan to leverage the internet if you don’t have access)
You must be able to attend the Emerging Issues Forum in Raleigh, NC, on February 10, 2020, to tell your story live and in-person from the forum stage. IEI will cover your mileage to and from the forum and offer you free admittance into the event.
