Our Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarships (free tickets) are available to increase geographic, demographic and economic representation at the Forum.
Who Can Apply?
Preference will be given to those who are:
- unable to afford the ticket price
- from areas of North Carolina outside the Triangle are
- are 30 years of age or younger
- and/or bring racial/ethnic diversity to the audience
Thanks to the specific wishes of a contributor to IEI’s scholarship fund, some of these scholarships are reserved exclusively for residents living in Eastern North Carolina (i.e. east of I-95), especially those living in the region’s most economically distressed counties: Bertie, Bladen, Camden, Chowan, Columbus, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Robeson, Tyrrell, and Washington counties.
The scholarships will provide a free ticket to the Forum. Recipients are responsible for any additional costs, including their travel.
Requirement: In exchange for a ticket, and following the event, all recipients will be asked to identify in writing at least one action they plan to take as a result of attending the event. IEI staff will check back in the months after the Forum to track what has happened.
Deadline to apply: December 31, 2018
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by January 21, 2019.
