North Carolina is blessed with natural resources that contribute to the quality of life for its residents and visitors. The state’s beautiful mountains, its coastal environment and its recreational amenities make it of one of the best places to live, work and play. However, North Carolina’s continued natural beauty and its clean air and water won’t just happen – they will take careful planning as the state continues to experience increased economic activity and population growth.
As North Carolina continues to grow, it must include the infrastructure needed to support its people. Transportation, water and sewer, broadband and other infrastructures allow people to go about their daily lives. When the built environment is intentionally integrated into comprehensive community planning, North Carolina’s health improves.
