IEI’s 2016 Working Group

FEBRUARY 8-9, 2016

OverviewTo prepare for the 2016 Emerging Issues Forum, “FutureWork,” IEI has convened a Working Group to explore this broad topic and offer guidance to IEI as we shape the Forum program.  Comprised of thought leaders and experts from industry, economic and workforce development, education, nonprofits, and government, the Working Group is working to:

  • Identify opportunities North Carolina must leverage to successfully navigate these transformational shifts, with a focus on integrative strategies that span institutional, organizational, and sectoral barriers.
  • Inform the agenda of the 2016 Emerging Issues Forum in a meaningful way by providing a set of ideas from which to frame the discussion and debate by Forum participants.
  • Inform IEI’s efforts to translate the Forum’s priority recommendations into actions that will impact the entire state.

ProcessIn August and October, we convened the Working Group for day-long sessions. In between those meetings, we traveled the state and held a series of Community Focus Group convenings, where we gathered reaction to the Working Group’s early ideas and strategic priority suggestions.

At its October meeting, the Working Group produced a prioritized list of strategies that will be presented at the 2016 Emerging Issues Forum. Participants will discuss and debate these strategies, or create new strategies, to propel the state toward action.
